K9 Multisport

Designed by Kay Laurence of Learning About Dogs Ltd this activity provides a platform for talented dogs and trainers to demonstrate their expertise across a wide range of disciplines thereby developing their relationship. At all stages handlers are actively encouraged to reward their dogs for success.

There are six "levels" of achievement each consisting of set core criteria and optional exercises covering agility, retrieve, HWTM, scent and search, gundog, tracking, ringcraft, tricks and assistance dog.

The exercises are based on the accumulation of experience in a range of different canine skills and are not intended to discriminate between any type, breed or size of dog or their inherent abilities. So unlike some other disciplines all start on a level playing field.

It is an ideal vehicle for those who perhaps do not wish to enter more formal competition such as Obedience, Agility, Working or Field Trials, but would still enjoy training for and participating in a "recognized" activity.

One of the advantages of this scheme is that you may accrue options and core levels in phases which takes the pressure off having to complete everything in one day.

The first Weimaraner to achieve a title in this discipline was my longhair bitch Twiggy who has attained K9MS1 and K9MS2.
